SULEIKA ULMEN

Suleika Ulmen has been working as a freelance artist in her studio in Cologne since 1997.
During this time she has regularly shown her work in exhibitions. The former film makeup artist has kept her passion for colors, patterns and textiles. She was co-founder of the company comme il faut floorcloth(e)s (2012 to 2016). Floorcloth(e)s which have their origin in England of the 18th century had almost been forgotten. They are painted carpets made out of heavy canvas, and they even managed to find their way into the White House of the United States of America.
Today, she produces this forerunner of the linoleum in her studio, in a robust liaison of craftsmanship and art. She also uses this manufacturing place to produce wall hangings, pictures and collages. In her work Suleika Ulmen travels to the Orient and into the age of baroque and her pieces are reminders of icons, glamour, flowers and pop.
